To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I don’t know about you, but it’s hard to believe today is the last day of January! Our February calendar is packed with engaging activities, offering something for everyone. We’ll be crafting Valentine’s Day cards on Tuesday, celebrating Chinese New Year and the Year of the Snake on Thursday, and enjoying Happy Hour with live music on Friday. Alongside these special events, there are plenty of opportunities for games, exercise, socializing, and more. Be sure to check out the monthly calendar and tune in to Channel 1390 for daily activities!
We’d also like to extend our gratitude to our friends at the Eagle Rock Trader Joe’s for their continued generous donations of fresh flowers, which help beautify Solheim’s campus. Every other Saturday, a group of residents gathers to create new dining room centerpieces from these flowers—a wonderful opportunity to learn a new skill! Trader Joe’s has also donated live plants that now adorn our newly expanded library, adding to its welcoming atmosphere.
Our library committee has been hard at work, and February’s featured theme is ‘Books in Series’. Here’s a message from our library committee chair, Nancy Bess:
“For an avid reader, there is almost nothing as exciting as discovering a new author…unless, perhaps, it is discovering a new author with a series! We, at Solheim, are very lucky to have quite a wonderful selection. Although there are some series in storage, they will be accessible to us soon. When all the new bookshelves are in place, take a look at our recommended reading list!”
Meanwhile, the refresh of our Merton and Manor areas continues. You may notice quite a bit of white paint in the halls as we begin priming for the final paint colors (which won’t be white!). New handrails are being installed that are both stylish and functional. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to enhance these spaces. While there may be minor disruptions along the way, we are prioritizing accessibility every step of the way.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
